What You Can Expect
Q. What is the most popular waxing area?
A. By far, it is your eye brows. Your eyebrows frame your eyes and enhance the natural beauty of your face. Perfectly shaped brows can do more for your beauty than almost any cosmetic you can buy. Facial shape and structure dictate the perfect design. Everyone is unique, and so are eyebrows. Our pros will help you come up with the best eyebrows for you!
Q. Does waxing hurt?
A. It hurts more the first time than any other time because you are pulling out 100% of the hair, your nerves are on edge, and you don’t know what to expect. But, it is a quick, temporary sting that stops hurting right away. The next time is much easier! After your first wax, the hair grows back finer and more sparse, becomes less prickly between waxings, and retains its smoothness much longer.
Q. How long do I have to let my hair grow out?
A. As long as possible. Seriously, the longer the better! The more follicles/roots we can pull, the cleaner the wax, the longer it is going to last & the happier you are going to be! It can be hard to let it grow out but the longer the hair is, the cleaner it will turn out.
- Initially grow hair out 2-4 weeks or 1/2"
- Use No Scream Cream 45 minutes before waxing
- Do not ingest caffeine
- If OK with your doctor, take Ibuprofren one hour ahead
- If your skin is sensitive prior to and during your period, you may want to avoid waxing. However, if you don't mind, we don't either.
Q. How long will it last?
A. In order to keep the hair coming in at a reduced rate, you would come in about every 3-6 weeks. The discomfort would be about 1/3 of what it originally was because you would be having about 1/3 of your hair removed.
Q. When you say Brazilian, what do you mean?
A. The definition varies. For us, if we remove the labia hair it is a Brazilian—regardless of what you leave or don’t leave on top, a line, a triangle, or nothing. Our standard Brazilian is a la carte (no tush) unless requested.
Q. It’s so hard to let the hair grow in the summer—ideas?
A. Try boy shorts, board shorts, sarongs or tankinis so you don’t have to shave. In some cases, bleach or tweezers may work.
Q. What's the big deal about "double-dipping?
A. Double-dipping is a common practice of many unethical salons. To cut costs, they dip used sticks repeatedly. This contaminates an entire wax container. Not so at SPA #1 NAILS salon! Our waxing sticks are dipped into sterile wax once, applied to the client once, and then discarded. During a single Brasilian waxing session, our professional technicians may use 10 sticks or more!
